The Programme of the Inter-Regional Research Symposium is developed in consultation with a passionate and dedicated Organising Committee to address key themes and current needs relating to higher education and its contributions to sustainable development.

Every two years and up to 2030, the Symposium is based around a special theme and key interest areas or symposium tracks. In 2024, the special theme focuses on transforming higher education: towards sustainable development and key interest areas include navigating the digital transformation in higher education, fostering flexible pathways and lifelong learning and advancing a sustainable future through higher education's role in climate action.
