Under the component of futuristic leadership and good governance, the Project on Strengthening Leadership with Gender Equity, Diversity, and Inclusivity (EDI) in HEIs in the GMS and Timor-Leste will engage university leaders to reflect and analyse their respective contexts, providing a common space for the sharing of leadership tools to promote gender equity, diversity, and inclusivity as well as to ignite new ideas and initiatives leading to successful higher education institutional management that contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG4 on quality education and SDG5 on gender equality.

In partnership with the British Council, this project focuses on strengthening leadership with gender equity, diversity, and inclusivity among 35 nominated universities of the GMS, Timor-Leste and across all SEAMEO Member Countries. The project is currently being implemented for a period of one year until March 2023 with funding support from the British Council. Under the project, SEAMEO RIHED is working with the Institute of Development Studies of the University of Sussex as the project consultant to deliver a virtual Leadership Workshop in March 2022. A SEA-UK Leadership Exchange Programme will also be carried out for all nominated universities in the region throughout the remainder of the project in collaboration with 5 prominent UK university partners, including Aston University, the University of Gloucestershire, the University of West Scotland, the Institute of Development Studies, University of Sussex, and Oxford University.
