SEAMEO RIHED at the 2025 China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week (CAECW) 27 July 2025 | Guiyang, China
We are pleased to share that Choltis Dhirathiti, PhD., Centre Director of SEAMEO RIHED, was invited to deliver the Opening Remarks at the ASEAN-China Symposium on Built Environment Renewal and Smart Energy Development, held on 27 July 2025 in Guiyang, Guizhou Province, China.
Organised as part of the 2025 China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week (CAECW), the Symposium was hosted by Tianjin University, which serves as the permanent secretariat of the ASEAN-China Network for Cooperation and Exchange among Engineering and Technology Universities (ACNET-EngTech).
In his address, he underscored the vital role of higher education institutions in addressing shared regional challenges such as climate vulnerability, rapid urbanisation, and energy transition. He emphasised the importance of strengthened collaboration among universities, governments, and industry sectors to foster sustainability across ASEAN and China.
In addition to the Symposium, Dr. Choltis met with Prof. Chai Liyuan, President of Tianjin University, and the ACNET-EngTech Secretariat team to explore opportunities for enhanced collaboration among member universities. He also shared recommendations to support the continued development of the network.
Established in 2014, ACNET-EngTech is one of the three ASEAN-China Linkages under the collaborative initiative between the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) and SEAMEO RIHED. The Network aims to promote international exchange and cooperation in engineering higher education, facilitate academic collaboration, and create platforms for joint scientific research between ASEAN and China. Since its inception, the Network has grown to include 26 member universities from 8 countries, with founding members comprising Tianjin University, the Excellence 9 (E9) universities in China, and 8 universities from 4 ASEAN Member States.
