On Tuesday 16th May, as a part of training for staff of newly established SEAMEO Centres, SEAMEO RIHED arranged a half-day experience-sharing session to support the effective and efficient operation of the new Centres. On behalf of Dr. Chantavit Sujatanond, Centre Director, both SEAMEO RIHED Programme team, led by Ms. Phunyanuch Pattanotai, Programme Director, and Administrative team, led by Ms. Thanthakorn Phuangsawat, Administration and Communication Manager, welcomed 13 delegates from SEAMEO Regional Centre for Early Childhood Care Education and Parenting (SEAMEO CECCEP); SEAMEO Regional Centre for Technical Education Development (SEAMEO TED); SEAMEO Regional Centre for Community Education Development (SEAMEO CED); SEAMEO Regional Centre for History and Tradition (SEAMEO CHAT); and SEAMEO Secretariat.

Through the session, SEAMEO RIHED shared knowledge and experience gained since its establishment, which may be beneficial for the delegates in the effort of bringing the effective organisational operation into the new Centres. The discussion primarily focused on internal operation regarding Programme Development and Administration & Finance.

As for the Programme aspect, the teams had the opportunity to deliver a summary of projects/activities SEAMEO RIHED has been implementing in the field of higher education and development, including the work on policy dialogue, student mobility, university networks, academic credit transfer and quality assurance. Moreover, the teams demonstrated experience in committing various regional initiatives as a partner organisation that focus on both intra- and inter-regional cooperation, developmental programmes and a range of communication strategies.

In terms of the Administration & Finance aspect, the SEAMEO RIHED shared the knowledge and experience regarding human resource management, budgeting strategy and the efficient delivery of logistical arrangement, which are crucial components for establishing a strong organisational foundation.

The session entailed active questions and discussion involving the participating staff. We hope that what we shared as the experience of SEAMEO RIHED will facilitate to build the operational effectiveness and efficiency in the new SEAMEO Centres. We very much look forward to working together to contribute to regional development.
