The 6th Review Meeting of the ASEAN International Mobility for Students (AIMS) Programme

The 6th Review Meeting of the ASEAN International Mobility for Students (AIMS) Programme was held in Chiang Rai, Thailand, from 22 to 23 November 2013. The Meeting was hosted with generous hospitality by Mae Fah Luang University. The participants of the Review Meeting included delegates from the Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia; the Ministry of Education and Culture, Indonesia; the Office of the Higher Education Commission, Thailand; the Commission on Higher Education, the Philippines; the Ministry of Education, Brunei Darussalam; the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Japan; and representatives from participating universities in all member countries.

As the AIMS Programme has rapidly expanded to include 7 member countries, 7 study fields and 59 participating universities throughout the region, the Meeting presented an important step towards enhancing and strengthening bilateral and multilateral cooperation among participants to benefit student mobility and contributed towards the development of networks and partnerships necessary for building a sustainable future for AIMS. In particular, the Meeting sought to encourage participants to discuss programme development and consult together on mechanisms to facilitate student exchange in the region.
