The 6th Meeting of the Working Group on Student Mobility and Quality Assurance of Higher Education among ASEAN Plus Three Countries (APT WG)

 

On 13-14 August 2018, SEAMEO RIHED attended the 6th Meeting of the Working Group on Student Mobility and Quality Assurance of Higher Education among ASEAN Plus Three Countries (APT WG), Hotel Amara, Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar.

The Meeting was graciously hosted by the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Myanmar. Representatives from Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Japan, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Republic of Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, the ASEAN Secretariat, ASEAN University Network (AUN) Secretariat, ASEAN Quality Assurance Network (AQAN) Secretariat, ASEAN Qualifications Reference Framework (AQRF) Committee, also attended the Meeting.

Chaired by the Philippines and Co-Chaired by Japan, the 6th APTWG reviewed the country reports on the result of the Monitoring of the Guidelines on Student Exchange and Mobility and the Trial of the Draft Guidelines on Transcripts and Supplemental Documents for Academic Record of Exchange Students, which aim to facilitate higher education student mobility and quality assurance in the region.

In addition, information about the Campus Asia Programme was also shared, with the possibility of expanding to cover Pan-Asia region in the future. The Meeting agreed for this information to be shared also in other platforms, including the upcoming 12th AIMS Review Meeting, to spark interest for further collaboration.

Relevant updates on the current status and upcoming activities in higher education from Member Countries and organisations were shared at the Meeting. SEAMEO RIHED Programme Director, Ms. Phunyanuch Pattanotai, reported on SEAMEO RIHED’s updates and upcoming regional activities, many of which are in close collaboration with our Member Countries and partners.

For future activities, the APT WG agreed to focus on the availability of information to promote mobility of higher education. The next meeting, the 7th APT WG, will be hosted and chaired by Singapore in 2019.
