The 18th UNESCO-APEID International Conference 2016

On 26-28 October 2016, SEAMEO RIHED has the pleasure to participate in the 18th UNESCO-APEID International Conference 2016 “In Pursuit of Quality Education: The Past, Present, and Future” in Bangkok, Thailand.

Quality Education is an important part of the Sustainable Development Goal 4 – Education 2030 agenda – to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all. The Conference explored various aspects on quality education, such as policy reforms, international organisations’ efforts in providing technical support to countries, the various roles, perceptions and methods for ICT, M&E, the inclusive dimension to quality education, and many more. Over 150 participants from the region and beyond attended the Conference to share and learn about the different aspects of quality education.

SEAMEO RIHED promotes higher education development in the Southeast Asian region and has various cooperation with UNESCO APEID. At this Conference, Dr. James Williams, visiting Fulbright scholar to SEAMEO RIHED, took part as a panelist in a plenary session in his presentation titled “Managing Education Systems to Improve Quality and Student Learning”. Mr. Joseph Bullough, Programme Officer, SEAMEO RIHED, also chaired the breakout session on “Pathways to Accreditation and Validation of Learning for All”.
